Sui Gas February 2026 News: Ramadan Timings & Tariff Verdict

Living in Islamabad, dealing with cold mornings and low gas pressure has basically become a winter tradition. But with Ramadan falling in the winter/spring transition this year, everyone was worried about Sehri and Iftar. The good news? The Petroleum Division just dropped some major updates for February 2026, and they are surprisingly positive. Let's break down exactly what SNGPL and SSGC consumers need to know right now.
1. Ramadan 2026: Zero Loadshedding Hours
The biggest concern on everyone's mind was whether we'd have to cook Iftar on expensive LPG cylinders. To our relief, both companies have announced special, guaranteed supply schedules for the holy month.
SNGPL (Punjab, KPK, Islamabad)
For those of us on the Sui Northern network, the government has mandated a massive window. Gas will be supplied with optimal pressure from 3:00 AM to 10:30 PM daily. That is an almost 19-hour continuous window, which is honestly better than we've had in months.
SSGC (Sindh, Balochistan)
Down south, SSGC is facing a slightly tighter crunch due to the 10% annual depletion in local gas reserves. To manage this safely, they are using "pressure profiling" outside of these guaranteed times:
- Sehri: 3:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- Iftar & Dinner: 3:30 PM to 10:00 PM
Complaint Redressal
If your area experiences low pressure during these hours, you are advised to call the official 1199 helpline immediately. "Situation Rooms" have been established at the head offices to monitor tail-end areas directly.
2. The Big Relief: No Gas Price Hike in 2026
Remember late last year when rumors were swirling about another massive jump in our utility bills? OGRA had even recommended upward revisions back in May 2025.
You can breathe a sigh of relief. The Federal Minister for Petroleum has officially confirmed that on the directives of the Prime Minister, there will be absolutely no increase in gas prices throughout 2026 for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers. The circular debt in the gas sector has reportedly stabilized, allowing the government to absorb the costs for now.
If you're still confused about why your winter bill was high, make sure you understand the Protected vs Non-Protected criteria, as the slab rules from last year still apply.
3. RLNG & LPG Adjustments (Feb 2026)
While domestic system gas rates are locked, the imported Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) and local LPG did see minor adjustments:
- RLNG Uptick: Due to terminal handling charges and currency fluctuations, SNGPL consumers will see a tiny 0.53% increase ($11.3345/MMBtu), and SSGC a 0.59% increase ($10.27/MMBtu). This mildly affects industrial sectors mostly.
- LPG Cylinder Cap: For areas completely off the grid, OGRA has fixed the maximum consumer price of LPG at Rs. 226.05 per kg for February. This brings the standard 11.8kg cylinder to a maximum retail price of Rs. 2,667.40. Do not let vendors overcharge you!
4. Crackdown on Gas Compressors
Both utility companies are taking a zero-tolerance approach this season towards illegal gas compressors. Using a suction pump on your meter doesn't just pull gas away from your immediate neighbors; it dangerously destabilizes the local pipeline pressure.
SNGPL and SSGC have stated that teams will be conducting sudden area raids during Ramadan. Caught using a compressor? Your meter will be disconnected immediately on the spot, accompanied by heavy fines.
5. Future Tariff Changes: Income-Based Billing?
Finally, looking beyond 2026, there are murmurs of a massive structural shift in how we pay for energy. The government, in consultation with the IMF, is currently drafting a new model that looks to replace the current "consumption-slab" method with an income-based structure.
What does this mean? In the future, subsidies might be directly tied to your confirmed household income bracket via NADRA and FBR data, rather than just keeping your meter reading strictly below 0.9 hm³. We will keep you updated as this policy develops over the coming months.
